[Abstract] The snail species Oncomelania hupensis is the sole intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum, and infective snails are one of the major risk factors for the transmission of schistosomiasis. Therefore, the detection of infective snails plays a critically important role in the prevention and control of schistosomiasis. Recently, the Jiangsu Institute for the Prevention and Control of Schistosomiasis has developed a recombinase-mediated isothermal amplification fluorescence assay for detecting infective snails infected with Schistosoma japonicum. This method features rapidity, high sensitivity, and ease of operation, making it worthy of further expanded trials.
